Our wonderful guide Paan, took us up to a small village in the mountains outside of Laung Prabang. Most of the villagers work in the fields, and many of them still use the old techniques they have used for hundreds of years. They are the most friendly and humble people you'll ever meet. In this video, you will see a musical instrument being played as well as a loom being used to make fabric. When they bring the rice in from the fields they grind it with stones and then remove the husks from the rice. They also hunt wild pigs and birds with bows and arrows. No one in Laos is allowed to have a gun even for hunting.
After we left the village, we went to a beautiful waterfall in the mountains. The Kuang Si waterfalls are on the list of most beautiful and most visited waterfalls in Laos with gorgeous turquoise cascading pools which are the perfect place to seek refuge from the Laotian heat. You can have an excellent day visiting the 50-meter Kuang Si Waterfall to cool down in the pools or hike to the top for magnificent views.
We had a delightful lunch at a resturaunt down stream from the falls.
During our trip, we visited a school in a small village where we had the opportunity to give pads of paper and pencils to the elementary school students. The kids were lovely, and it was a memorable experience interacting with both the teacher and the students.
