Traveling along the Amalfi coast is difficult but beautiful. We spent several days in Sorrento and traveled to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello along the Amalfi coast. Our thanks go out to Nico our wonderful driver who got us back and forth along the coast. It is very difficult driving and would be very tiring if you drove yourself or took the bus. We highly recommend spending the extra money and have someone drive who knows the area really well. We spent several hours in Positano where we shopped and looked around the town. We enjoyed the harbor and the coastline. There are ferries and several boats that go from Sorrento around to Positano and Amalfi. If you have the time I would highly recommend that as well.
Walking through these unique towns is a little difficult because there are lots of stairs and steep hills to walk up and down. But the beauty is amazing and the food is fabulous. Tara picked up some jewelry for the family at one of the many merchants along the way. Amalfi was quite busy and confined. The church was gorgeous. You can plan on walking up a lot of steps to get around. The architecture is beautiful in all of these small towns.
One of the things that we enjoyed the most on the Amalfi coast was the small town of Ravello. We drove up to Ravello from Positano and had lunch there and walked around the village. They were having a wedding in a church while we were there and it seemed like the whole town was invited. A beautiful glimpse into small town life in Italy. We also spent the most money in Ravello after buying some beautiful Italian pottery. We would like to go back to Ravello and stay longer.
