After leaving North Carolina and heading down to Florida, We had to see what all the fuss was about in Charleston South Carolina. Everyone had told us that we need to go to Charleston to really get a taste of the south.
We had some time so we booked a few days. We loved it from the start. on our first night we stumbled on a great rooftop bar in the Vendue Hotel. We had lots of great food. 5church was excellent. The restaurant is in an old church where an artist has copied the book "The Art of War" on the walls and ceiling. It is a must see in Charleston. Prohibition was also a big hit for great food. You can't beat their Shrimp and Grits!
When we go to new cities we almost always take a walking tour. It gives you a closer feel of the city and a lot of good info for while you're in town. Our walking tour was great. We had no idea about the history of this city. We learned so much. I highly recommend it. Also there are several old houses that have been there since before the Civil War. We took the tour of the Edmondston Alston House. Again you will learn so much history of the home and the city. A must do.
Also while in Charleston we had to take a ghost tour one night. When in Rome! It was a lot of fun, and again we learned even more about this historic town. Nothing like walking through a locked up cemetery at night to keep you on your toes.
