We stopped in Nashville on our way to the East Coast to check in on some friends and family that live there. We had a nice visit with Ken's niece Christina and her family. They recently relocated to Tennessee from California and are loving living in the Nashville area. We stayed with our sweet friends the Ratcliffs at their beautiful home and enjoyed their southern hospitality. We really enjoyed Nashville particularly the music scene and spent an evening going up and down Broadway dropping into different bars to listen to all kinds of music.
New York
It is always great to go visit the kids in New York. Pat and Tory treated us to see Hamilton and a great night out on the town. Pat took me over to one of his favorite old bars McSorley's. Incredible history in this place. Opened in 1854 this is the oldest bar in New York. All they have is beer light and dark when you order you get two beers. I guess people come back so much they wanted to slow down the turnaround. Anyway it's a great place with a mixed crowed of locals and tourists. If you're in the East Village you have to stop by and check it out.
The Keys
Tara and I were overdue for a little beach time so we went to our favorite resort down in the Florida keys. The Isla Bella in Marathon it's a beautiful and relaxing beach club. The restaurant is fabulous and the service is impeccable. Great place to relax go diving and kayaking around the keys. We highly recommend The Isla Bella but be prepared to pay a ridiculous amount for daily parking. We also spent some time down at Key West always a favorite stop great history and lots of good bars and restaurants. We took a beautiful sunset cruise that we really enjoyed. Lots of great sunset shots as well as cruising under 7 mile bridge. In Key West is our favorite dessert place in the world it is called "Better Than Sex" the desserts are incredible and of course there's lots of wine and booze included.
