The Island of Capri off the Amalfi coast is spectacular. It is very easy to catch a ferry from Sorrento to Capri, it's about a 40 minute trip. Take an early ferry and as soon as you arrive catch a cab up to Ana Capri. It is so much more enjoyable when there are less people. Catch the chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro for some amazing views. You can also grab a drink at the top while you are enjoying the incredible 360° view around the island of Capri. Next we walked down to the Villa San Michele museum. This villa is the life’s work at Capri of the Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe (1857–1949). It is surrounded by an impressive garden, which recently won the price as Italy’s most beautiful private park. Behind it is the Barbarossa mountain, that Axel Munthe turned into a sanctuary for migratory birds. Great artwork and beautiful gardens. It is worth an hour or so to see the views and the gardens.
After a late breakfast, we got back in a cab and headed down into Capri town. By the late afternoon the town starts to get a little busy. We worked our way to a small museum and restaurant overlooking the beautiful islands on the south east end of the Capri. It's a great town for walking, shopping and eating, and there are beautiful views in all directions. I can't wait to go back and spend more time there.
Here is a fun video of the cab ride down from Anacapri to Capri. Open air, cool breeze and beautiful views. As well as a few very tight spots with other vehicles.
