Austin, Texas

So we went back on the road. With all the insanity and uncertainty affecting the world today, we needed to try to get back to our life. We decided that we should spend time exploring where we might want to settle down when we end our life of travel. Austin was been on our list and things there seemed a little more normal than the crack down in LA. When we made our plans things were fine in Austin. But right before we left there was a big uptick in Covid cases and things were more closed off when we got there. Still much better then LA.

So we spent 3 weeks in Austin. In June-July you can imagine it was hot and humid. We stayed at a great AirBnB in South Austin. The family there was so kind to us. There is nothing better the southern hospitality of Texas. We found great restaurants and walked along Lady Bird lake. We made it out to Lake Travis to have lunch at the classic Oasis restaurant.

A wonderful day trip out to Fredericksburg, TX was a highlight. It was founded in 1846 by 140 German immigrants. Great little town to walk around and shop. Food, ice cream and wineries are the draw. It's the home of Admiral Nimitz, Boy was he an amazing American leader.

We spent time looking at 2 areas that could be a possible home for us.

Kissing Tree in San Marcos south of Austin and Sun City north of Austin near Georgetown TX. Both had beautiful homes and lovely neighborhoods.

Also I was so happy to see my old friends Bettye and Chris Benton. It had been way to long and it was a joy to spend quality time with them. (Can't Beleive we forgot to take a pic) We also connected with some old friends of Tara from Dallas that had moved to Austin. They treated us to a wonderful home cooked meal.

One of the funniest and most interesting things we did was tour a huge underground cavern called Inner Space. There were miles of caverns we only saw a small portion it -- really amazing. Again highly recommend!
